On Saturday, January 13, 2025, Community Hero Action Group proudly participated in The People’s Rally on the steps of the Montgomery County Courthouse, joining community leaders and residents in a powerful demonstration of grassroots activism, democracy, and social justice. Despite the cold and rainy weather, attendees remained engaged, listening to a diverse panel of speakers addressing key issues affecting our community.
A Strong Presence for Community Empowerment
As part of our mission to promote health equity, financial literacy, and civic engagement, Community Hero Action Group set up an informational table, connecting with attendees and distributing “Our Health. Our Wealth. Our Vote.” signs. These messages of empowerment were seen throughout the crowd, reinforcing the vital link between public health, financial security, and voter participation.
Hosting the rally on the courthouse steps was particularly significant, serving as a reminder that local policies and leadership directly impact our daily lives.
Community Insights from Our Survey
During the event, we surveyed over 51 attendees, gaining valuable insight into the challenges facing Montgomery County residents. Here’s what we learned:
- Primary source of news & information: The majority of respondents rely on social media for health, voting, and financial information.
- Biggest healthcare challenge: The most cited barrier was the cost of healthcare.
- Voting engagement: A majority of respondents reported being registered to vote.
- Financial needs: Respondents were evenly split between investment education and savings strategies as the most helpful financial services.
- Biggest financial challenge: The most common concerns were lack of savings and under/unemployment.
- Diversity of respondents: 17% of survey participants identified as non-white.
- These insights will help Community Hero Action Group continue to shape programs and resources that address these challenges.
Building Momentum for Action
During the event, we spoke with rally organizer Danielle Kwock, who shared her deep passion for bringing together local organizations to drive long-term change. She emphasized the need to continue these conversations and collaborate on solutions for Montgomery County’s most pressing issues.
Community Hero PA is committed to sustaining this momentum and ensuring that healthcare access, financial empowerment, and civic participation remain top priorities in our community.
