Dear Community Heroes,

As we begin 2025, I find myself reflecting on both the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. In times of political transition, our work serving the community becomes even more vital. Recently, I’ve been inspired by Jim Collins’ “Good to Great and the Social Sectors,” which explores how strong organizations can become even stronger. While we’ve consistently delivered valuable services to our community – something we should all be proud of – Collins’ insights show us how we can deepen and expand our impact even further.

One of Collins’ key principles, the Stockdale Paradox, perfectly captures our approach moving forward. Successful organizations embrace two seemingly contradictory beliefs: they confront the brutal facts of their current reality while maintaining unwavering faith in their ultimate success. Those who thrive don’t rely on blind optimism, but rather on this powerful duality of realism and conviction.

As we embark on our journey from good to great in 2025, I’m excited to share several key organizational updates that will strengthen our impact in the coming quarter. First, we’re refining our focus to better serve our core constituency. By narrowing our scope, we can deepen our impact and deliver more meaningful results to those who need our services most. This isn’t about doing less – it’s about doing what we do best with even greater effectiveness.

Second, we’re launching a volunteer cohort that will be conducting community digital literacy classes. In today’s increasingly digital world, these skills are essential.  If you have expertise to share and a passion for teaching, we’d love to have you join this important initiative.

Third, I’m thrilled to announce the introduction of Wealth Wellness, our comprehensive new program designed to build generational prosperity. Through these sessions, community members will gain practical tools and knowledge about generational wealth, estate planning, trusts, and investment strategies – essential components for building long-term financial stability and family legacy.

These initiatives reflect Collins’ wisdom that greatness comes from disciplined people, disciplined thought, and disciplined action. We’re actively seeking passionate individuals who share our commitment to excellence in service. Whether as a board member, advisory board member, or volunteer instructor, there are numerous ways to contribute to our work. If you’re interested in joining us in making a real difference in our community, we’d love to hear from you.

The path forward is clear: building on our strong foundation while pushing ourselves to reach new heights of impact and service. Together, we can transform from a good organization into a truly great one, creating an even stronger and more resilient community.

Remember that you are the hero that your community has been waiting for.
