Vaccines for Your Baby
As parents and caregivers, we all want to keep our child as healthy as possible. Vaccines play a big part in helping keep children safe from serious illness. It is natural to have questions about vaccines for your baby.
Ask your child’s health care provider these questions about vaccines to help you make the best choices for your child’s health.
What vaccines are recommended for children before they turn 2?
What is the purpose of each vaccine, and how do they protect my child from getting sick?
Are there any side effects or risks with these vaccines that I should know about?
When should my child be getting these vaccines?
How will my child be safe from illness if they miss a vaccine or if we fall behind on the timeline?
Are there any other vaccines that you think would be good for my child?
Babies Can Get Free Vaccines
The Vaccines for Children (VFC) program provides vaccines to children whose parents or guardians may not be able to afford them. This helps make sure that all children and teens can receive doctor-recommended vaccinations at no cost.
Can My Baby Get Free Vaccines?
Any child who is 18 years or younger and meets one of these requirements:

Insured by Medicaid, Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), or Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment (EPSDT) program

Underinsured (Your child has health insurance, but it doesn’t cover certain recommended vaccines)

Uninsured

Los Bebés Pueden Recibir Vacunas Gratuitas
El programa Vacunas para Niños (Vaccines for Children Program, VFC) proporciona vacunas a niños cuyos padres o tutores no pueden pagarlas. Esto ayuda a garantizar que todos los niños y adolescentes puedan recibir las vacunas recomendadas por los médicos sin costo.
¿Puede mi bebé recibir vacunas gratuitas?
Cualquier niño menor de 18 años que cumpla uno de estos requisitos:

Data shows infants across Philadelphia County fell behind on well-baby visits during the pandemic and have not caught up. Missing these essential primary care checkups means many infants are not fully up to date on routine immunizations. The result is unprotected babies – placing them, their families and communities at risk for preventable disease and outbreaks.
CHAG and its community partners are joining forces to raise awareness of the Vaccines for Children program and deliver resources to its physicians and their patients to impact and improve the health of our community.
