Getting Involved in 2024 Election

by Community Hero | Sep 30, 2024 | Civic Engagement | 0 comments

Yes, every election, we hear the words, “This is the most important election of our lives.”  Well, you won’t hear that here.  Community Hero believes that every election affects our quality of life and this one is no different, which is why the African-american community must get out and vote.  If we don’t vote people into office who have our best interest and advocate for initiatives that create a high quality of life for our communities, then we can’t expect our tax dollars to be spent in our best interests.

Being complacent and not voting is actually a vote for those you support issues and programs that might not be the best for you and your family.  When you don’t vote, you inadvertently support those contrary issues with your money.

lecow to Get Involved in Non-Partisan Election Work

There are several ways to get involved with this upcoming election.

  1. Join Our Voter Registration Drives: Help community members register to vote at events and local gatherings. No experience is necessary—we’ll provide training!
  2. Join One of Our Street Teams: We are organizing several opportunities to help get our community members to the polls that don’t involve door knocking or phone banking.  Sign up to find out how to get started.
  3. Be a Polling Place Volunteer: Volunteering at the polls ensures that voting runs smoothly and fairly. It’s a critical role that ensures everyone has equal access to the ballot.
  4. Spread the Word on Social Media: Use your voice to encourage others to vote by sharing key dates, resources, and reminders about the importance of participating in the election process.

Make an Impact—Together

According to research, women are more likely to vote than men, so if you have a male friend, shoot him a text and remind him to vote.  This is called relational organizing and it’s by far one of the most powerful way to get folks to the polls.

Black eligible voters are more likely than eligible voters to be women (53% vs. 51%). They also tend to be younger than eligible voters overall: 60% of Black eligible voters are under the age of 50, compared with 52% of all U.S. eligible voters.

Our non-partisan work ensures that every member of our community has the opportunity to engage in the election, regardless of their political views. By focusing on voter education and participation, we’re not only supporting the democratic process but also strengthening our community’s ability to make meaningful change.

Let’s make this election season a powerful one! If you’re interested in joining our efforts, contact us at sign up here to learn more about how you can participate.

Together, we can make a difference—one vote at a time.
